Local and Sit-Down Restaurants in Pecos, TX
Fast food is great in a pinch. But we highly recommend our local restaurants that have authentic flavors. Some of these places are family-owned and have recipes passed down from generations.
El Rodeo is known for its large portions and biscuits for breakfast. Fans rave about the home cooking. You can sit down to eat or order take-out to go back to your hotel. Consider chicken fajitas, beef and cheese tacos, and the chile verde. One specialty of the house is the meatball soup. There is also the buffet featuring your Mexican cuisine favorites. The hearty portions and home cooking will be a hit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Look for El Rodeo at Walthall and U.S. 285 across from the Welcome to Pecos Sign.
Just up the street from El Rodeo is Pody’s BBQ. Its rustic decor harkens back to the Old West. But don’t let the indoor picnic tables fool you. This is one of the top-rated restaurants in Pecos, serving Texas-style barbecue for lunch and dinner. Melt-in-your-mouth brisket is the specialty of the joint, as are the dry-rub ribs. The sausage links are a hidden gem on the menu. For sides, don’t forget about potato salad and green beans. The award-winning hominy is also a favorite dish.
On the corner of Jefferson and Eddy sits Old Mill BBQ & Burritos, a longtime local favorite in Pecos dating back to 1947. It has something for everyone in an unpretentious atmosphere for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Tortillas are housemade. Chile verde and chile relleno are two classic Mexican dishes. But the barbecue here really shines. Consider the Texas brisket queso appetizer with hearty portions. Or go for a brisket fajita or barbecue brisket nachos. Brisket is smoked in-house. The huge burgers are also popular with hungry baseball and softball teams.
La Nortena Tamale Factory at 3rd and Ash serves outstanding Mexican and Southwestern-style food and, as you might guess, fantastic tamales for breakfast and lunch. You’ll need to take your order back to the hotel or have it delivered. Lunch burritos are a hit for hungry teams. Try the pork and red chile tamales or the breakfast burritos for a true taste of Pecos.
King Shark Restaurant combines Mexican cuisine and seafood cooked with fresh, bold flavors in Pecos, TX. Located at 4th and Ash, the fish tacos are worth it, considering the large portions on the plate. The octopus ceviche is for adventurous palates. For adults, this place serves alcohol.
Arti’s Italian Restaurant at 2nd and Oak serves hearty, authentic Italian cuisine, including pasta and pizza. Fans love the fresh marinara and the garlic bread. Pizza has a ton of ingredients, and then the lobster ravioli is a real treat. The Italian sausage is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy.
