Local community Little League has found a new home at the premium baseball facility in Pecos, Texas
(Pecos, TX) February 3, 2022 – The west Texas community of Pecos has a long history of sporting programs, most notably as the Rodeo capital of the world. Still there is a rejuvenation of a long-standing sport taking over and drawing attention to this desert town. With the development and opening of Cyclone Ballparks – a 120-acre ballpark – never has there been a greater opportunity to provide local programs, sports tourism, partnerships, and economic impact to the Pecos area. Since its opening in August of 2021, Cyclone Ballparks has hosted tournaments with hundreds of teams in their five-diamond field venue as well as community events showcasing concerts, holiday events, and more. In the new year, the venue is partnering with local providers to ensure the youth of Pecos and West Texas reap the same benefits as traveling teams. Cyclone Ballparks announces that they are the official home of The Pecos Little League. The 2022 season will kick off with its opening ceremony in February.
Pecos Little League has been serving Reeves County, home of Pecos, Texas since the early 20th Century, with a history dating back to the 1920s. Each year the youth baseball organization forms up to 30 teams from around the area. Participation in the League is highly sought after, given the League’s reputation over the years. Many Pecos teams have gone all the way to title games, including regionals, divisional championships, state championships, and have played in the Little League World Series several times.
Little League President Luis Salgado states, “Our organization is ecstatic to bring our operation to Cyclone Ballparks. The venue is a game-changer for our community, and we look forward to providing another terrific season to the families in Reeves County.”
“We at Cyclone and the Town of Pecos City are so grateful to be able to host Little League at our venue,” said Cyclone Ballparks General Manager, Cathy Garcia. “What a joy it will be to make an impact on youth in our community. Youth sports bring the community together, which will form social bonds and meaningful connections. That is what this venue is all about – building bridges with local families and visitors who come to Pecos.”
Little League is now taking registrations in person at the ballparks through January, with early bird pricing ending on December 31. All information can be found on Cyclone Ballparks’ website: playpecos.com.
